Despite its somewhat dated interior, Golden Star surprises guests with its high-quality dishes that stand out in the area. One of the highlights on the menu is the dumplings, which are often praised for their rich, flavorful fillings. In addition to the dumplings, the restaurant's D1 dish, a popular choice, delivers an exceptional taste that satisfies even the most discerning palates. This easy accessibility is complemented by their efficient and reliable service, making it a top choice for those in the surrounding areas.

For lovers of crab rangoon, Golden Star is known for serving one of the best versions in town. Place looks dated but don't let that fool you had the d1 and the dumplings everything had great flavor thought the beef teriyaki could have been larger but the flavor and texture was great

We moved to Fairhaven from the Washington DC area. The Chinese food around us hasn't been to our taste. We've tried nearly ten different places for takeout and every time, the food has been disappointing. I always gave my sister my leftovers the next day. But with Golden Star, it's a different story. Their flavors are spot-on. Tasty and delicious. And my poor sister only has her own leftovers now. I'm eating every last scrap of food. They're about four miles away (which was nothing when I lived in the DC area but it feels like it's far away around here!). But I get onto 140 and they're located *very* close to the exit. It takes about ten minutes to get there from Fairhaven Center. Oh! One more thing. After having tried so many other places, we had an assortment of similar-looking but ever-so-slightly-different-sized plastic takeout containers. Those are all gone and we're only saving the containers and lids from Godlen Star now. We have found our "home" for Chinese food.

I have nothing bad to say about them to be honest. The food is great, it's done within 12-15min which is not long at all & lets not forget the lady who takes my order is super nice and when I get there she is nice to me especially how she is always saying thank you, have a great day & tells me to be safe! Definitely recommend them for sure. (Try the Crab Rangoons & Fried Dumplings with Duck Sauce)

I have been a customer of Golden Star for over 25 years. Due to the recent closure of the Shaw's supermarket they are adjacent to, I feel they are now going to be tested in ways they haven't previously. I wish them the best of luck. For the record, Golden Star is a fantastic Cantonese-American restaurant -- affordable, fast, and friendly. Their appetizers such as their "Crab Rangoon" and "Egg Rolls" are among the best of this type of fare I've had in Southeastern Massachusetts. Yes, everything you've heard about Golden Star's "Crab Rangoon" is true - I've yet to have any better version of this anywhere with its crispy deep-fried shell and hot, creamy filling. Compared to others, Golden Star's "Egg Rolls" have extra inner layers of dough, slightly chewy and starchy and, perhaps because these were some of the first egg rolls I had, I believe that ALL egg rolls anywhere must have this extra inner dough for them to be perfect. Similarly, Golden Star's dark, wok-charred "Pork Fried Rice" is the gold standard that I measure all other fried rice against. I also enjoy the entrées, from "Sweet and Sour Chicken," to the micro-regional southeastern Massachusetts "Chow Mein" variant served here. The "Chow Mein" is made with crispy noodles that are essentially Egg Roll wrappers cut into strips called "Hoo-Mee" by long-time local supplier "The Oriental Chow Mein Noodle Company." This style of a chow mein dish is a favorite of regional native Emeril LaGasse, who has designated it as "Fall River Chow Mein" in his "Essential Emeril" cookbook. Whatever it is, it is different than chow mein being served anywhere else in the United States, and will effectively scratch your Chinese-American take-out itch. The first ever restaurant review I read was Dick White's (R.I.P.) review of this place from the early 90s, which proudly hangs from their wall to this day. Like Mr. White, I highly recommend Golden Star. Also, regardless of how much time has passed in-between visits (I live in California now), the family who work at and own Golden Star remember me. They remember me as a 15 year old kid and respect me as a 41 year old man. Support long-running superb local businesses like Golden Star! Obviously, I've added +1.5 stars for the nostalgic connection to my teenage years. I can't give these people anything less, they've been feeding me for almost 3 decades.
